Why Ride Horses in Beijing, China
China may not be the first country people think of for horseback riding, but it is actually one of the most convenient and surprisingly safe places to do it.
First, China is safe, well organized, and travel-friendly. This is especially true in Beijing, where transport, facilities, hospitals, hotels, and service systems are very complete. For international travelers, it means you can enjoy an outdoor riding experience without worrying too much about logistics or basic safety.
Beijing is also a perfect starting point. It is a major international gateway, well connected by flights and high-speed trains, while still being close to open riding areas and grassland routes.
Beyond riding, Beijing itself is a world-class travel destination. You can visit the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, the Temple of Heaven, historic hutongs, and local food neighborhoods before or after your riding journey.
So this is not just a horseback riding trip — it is a complete China experience.

How‘s Inner Mongolia?
Inner Mongolia shares the same vast steppe landscape and nomadic horse culture that many travelers associate with Mongolia, but it is much easier to reach from Beijing.
From Beijing, it takes around 400 km to reach Ulan Butong Grassland, one of the most beautiful grassland areas in Inner Mongolia. Ulan Butong was once part of the historic Mulan Paddock, the royal hunting ground of the Qing Dynasty. Today, it is known for its wide grasslands, lakes, wetlands, forests, flowers, and dramatic open scenery.
This area also has one of the strongest horse cultures in northern China. Horses are part of local life here, not just a staged tourist attraction. That makes Ulan Butong an ideal place for authentic grassland riding.
