What is Lacquer Fan
Lacquer fans originated in ancient China. As early as the Eastern Han Dynasty, lacquerware had already become an important craft. Fans, being a common everyday item, naturally combined with lacquer techniques, giving rise to the unique art form of lacquered fans. The craftsmanship of lacquer fans reached its peak during the Tang Dynasty, when they became treasured collectibles among the imperial court and the aristocracy

Step 2 - Practice Strokes with Ink & Brush
Warm-up painting exercises on scrap paper.
Step 3 - Choose Your Fan Design
Select your preferred motif for your round fan.

Step 4 - Create Your Fan Artwork
Paint your motif on the silk fan using traditional ink techniques.
Step 5 - Finish & Take Home Your Fan
choose 2–3 colors you like. Shake them well and drip them evenly into the water. Then use a stirring stick to create patterns. Gently place the white fan surface into the water—either rotate it or lightly move it around. Different movements and intensities will create unique designs. After lifting it out, use a tissue to absorb the excess water on the surface, then let it dry.
